Quebec Premier Francois Legault and Ontario Premier Doug Ford are planning to discuss their priorities towards government and economic sustainability amidst this global pandemic.

The two provinces will share and collaborate on how to confront this global issue. Quebec and Ontario have the two highest cases of Coronavirus in Canada. Both officials will address plans on how to stop COVID-19 from spreading. This global pandemic definitely has affected not only the economy but also the physical & psychological wellbeing of all Canadians.

Both governments are trying to help small businesses get through the pandemic. The purpose of this summit meeting is to aid and rebuild the communities in these provinces. Ryan Mallough, Ontario director of provincial affairs mentioned, “The pandemic has had a significant impact on small businesses in both provinces. To date, only 33 percent of Quebec businesses and 26 per cent of Ontario businesses are making normal revenues. This indicates how long the road to recovery will be. It’s crucial that our governments work together to ensure that small businesses are in the best possible position to recover and succeed.”

This summit will be crucial for both parties as they share ideas and their best practices on how to handle and recover from the global pandemic.
