Parents, Educators anxious towards school board plans for COVID-19

With schools reopening soon, the educators, students, and parents are anxious because of the lack of plans of  the school board for COVID-19. 

It is a unique and bizarre time for students and educators to start this school year. The students are entering the 2020-2021 school year and most of them are not too excited especially in the midst of Coronavirus pandemic. The school board are indecisive when it comes to reopening school plans. Jeff Sorensen, president of the Hamilton-Wentworth Elementary Teachers’ Local told CBC News Channel, “The province did not help matters. Last minute announcements, changing policies and decisions, a lack of true funding and direction really hampered this.” 

According to globalnews.ca, there were 375 new COVID-19 cases this labour day weekend. It has been the largest increase since July 24. The fear of being in risk of catching the Coronavirus draw concerns for educators, parents and student especially when the cases are rising. The biggest challenge school board has to overcome is how to operate the school during the global pandemic.
