Top 10 horror films on Netflix you need to watch this Halloween

The forecast says Canadians might experience an early winter by Halloween… so if you get too lazy to go trick or treat, how about binge-watch on these horror movies?

1. Shutter (2004)

You know those horror stories where they see ghosts on photographs? Well this movie takes it to another level. The couple, Tun and Jane get haunted by an unknown ghost who apparently was connected to Tun before. The jump scares and the whole story gets more and more interesting every scene. Plus, the movie’s produced in Thailand.

2. Insidious (2010)

If you’re into evil spirits plus possessions kind of stories then this one would never fail you. The story revolves around the Lambert family where their son gets possessed by an unknown evil spirit. A paranormal expert and a family friend named Elise helps them discover what evil spirit is controlling their son. Honestly, the demons here look pretty disturbing.

3. Gerald’s Game (2017)

Based on Stephen King’s novel, this one is more of a psychological thriller slash horror type of thing. What you thought is only a weird husband who wants to have playful sex with his wife then suddenly dies of a heart attack, this is definitely more than that. Every scene is a step by step discovery of a whole untold story about the wife. Though you can’t really tell if there’s a ghost or a demon here. You gotta watch to find out I guess?

4. IT (2017)

As you all know, IT Chapter Two has just been released a couple of weeks ago. So before you watch that, make sure to watch this first! Pennywise is proof that clowns can get pretty creepy too. But this group of kids will show their bravery with high hopes of taking down this creepy clown who has been hunting and feeding on kids in this particular town.

5. The Conjuring (2013)

Do y’all remember when this was released??? Since the film was based on true events, some cinemas, actually put up warnings for everyone who’ll be watching the film. And because of how psychologically disturbing the movie was, in some cinemas they have priests present for those who might feel they need spiritual blessing. Probably one of the best cases the Warrens ever had!

6. Eerie (2018)

This could be considered as one of the best Filipino horror movies ever produced. It had been trending on twitter for a quite while since its release on Netflix that received praise even from international viewers. This is your typical catholic all-girls school run by nuns. And we all know that nuns on horror movie make it even scarier BUT you will be surprised with the twist that you won’t even expect.

7. Eli (2019)

One of the newest Netflix original horror film. A boy with an unknown rare disease was transferred in a facility by his parents in hopes of getting him cured. But the mansion facility has its dark secret. The plot twists will definitely blow your minds!

8. Hereditary (2018)

The title is indeed intriguing but you will agree with it when you finish watching the movie. Family curses, cult, trauma, and supernatural horror altogether. A lot of reviews have considered this as one of the bests in American horror films.

9. Annabelle: Creation (2017)

There’s always something creepy about vintage dolls that would make you think it’s haunted. Just to make it clear this is a prequel of Annabelle. Here, you’ll get to know how Annabelle was discovered…or created hence the title. After watching this, Annabelle and The Conjuring will make a lot more sense!

10. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

Another demon-possessed film based on a true story. Emily Rose was believed to be possessed by a demonic entity. A priest decided to help her through exorcism but the demons who possessed her were too extreme so she died in the process. The priest is being charged for homicide and a lawyer tries to help as she also believes that Emily’s condition is nothing ordinary.
