High Park is Toronto’s biggest and most beloved green space—400 acres of trails, gardens, and wildlife right in the west end of the city. From Bloor Street down to Lake Shore, it’s easy to reach by subway through High Park Station or Keele Station. Step out of the platform and nature greets you instantly.
Every spring, thousands visit for the famous cherry blossoms, a gift from Japan in 1959. The park turns pink with picnics, photo shoots, and celebrations. But even beyond blossom season, High Park remains a gem. It has a free zoo that’s been open since 1893, home to llamas, deer, and peacocks—perfect for families.
At the center is Grenadier Café, a local favorite for weekend brunches and post-walk coffee breaks. Deeper inside stands Colborne Lodge, built in 1837 by John George Howard, the architect who donated the land to the city with one wish—that it would always stay public and open for everyone.
Surrounding the park are charming neighborhoods like Bloor West Village and Roncesvalles, filled with bakeries, cafés, and Edwardian homes that tell stories of old Toronto.
High Park isn’t just a park. It’s a living piece of Toronto’s history—a place that connects people, preserves nature, and reminds the city what home feels like.
