A familiar red mascot made an unexpected visit to the Philippine Consulate in Toronto. Jollibee, the country’s most iconic fast-food brand, was the guest of honor as the consulate launched a new permanent corner celebrating Filipino excellence abroad.
The exhibit, created with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), marks the first feature in what will become an ongoing showcase of Filipino brands making a global mark. It starts fittingly with Jollibee—now with over 100 branches across North America, including 28 in Canada and 12 in Ontario.
Beyond comfort food and nostalgia, Jollibee’s success supports Philippine exports. The peach mango pie, ube pie, and pineapple juice sold in Canada are all sourced from the Philippines, turning every bite into a small boost for the home economy.
From Winnipeg’s first store in 2016 to Toronto’s jam-packed opening in Scarborough two years later, Jollibee has grown into more than a restaurant. It’s a symbol of Filipino pride, now honored within the halls of diplomacy.
