Drei’s $15 Food Challenge in Toronto

What can you eat in Toronto with just $15? Drei took on the challenge — food, drink, and dessert all included — and it turned out to be one fun (and filling) adventure!

Her first stop: Yonge & Finch, a hotspot for Asian eats. Instead of heading to a big chain, she wanted something more local and budget-friendly. After scanning the menu, she found a rice meal for only $8.99, plus a 10% cash discount. Score! With rice and spicy crab on the plate, it was a solid, satisfying start.

That left her with $4.15 — just enough for a drink and dessert hunt. She stopped by H Mart, where she found a milk soda for $1.99 (though she later spotted a calamansi juice for less — next time!).

For dessert, Drei wandered along Yonge Street until she stumbled upon a café offering $3 Korean bingsoo — a shaved ice dessert topped with red beans and condensed milk. Sweet, refreshing, and the perfect way to end her $15 challenge.

Total spent: $14.39
Change left: $0.60
A full meal, drink, and dessert — all in downtown Toronto.

Sometimes, all it takes is a little curiosity and creativity to prove that good food doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
