At Filipino TV, we live for the stories—the ones you see on screen and the untold tales behind the camera. In our latest FTV IRL VLOG: The Team Goes Off-Script, we pull back the curtain to show you the camaraderie, creativity, and chaos that fuels our passion for storytelling.
Here’s how a regular day turned into one of the most unexpected (and delicious) turning points for our team.
Ordinary Mornings, Extraordinary People
The day started like any other, with each of us tackling our routines before heading to work.
- Cherie, the multitasker extraordinaire, was already knee-deep in her daily tasks. Deadlines? No problem. Coffee in hand, she powered through like the pro she is.
- Anne, ever the doting mom, had just dropped off her kids at school and was soaking in a moment of peace before the whirlwind of work.
- Anjo, the team’s go-to for witty one-liners, had a full morning of grocery runs and a doctor’s appointment, muttering, “Why does everything happen on the same day?”
- Handrea, accompanied by her adorable dog Halo, made her usual rounds at the park, capturing the morning light on her phone for future Instagram gold.
- Jeff, our editing wizard, was buried under a mountain of footage, meticulously piecing together clips for upcoming episodes. His sharp eye for detail and knack for finding the perfect shot made him indispensable, even if it meant skipping breakfast to hit a looming deadline.
- Meanwhile, Filbert, our fearless leader, sat in a quiet corner with a guitar in his hands, absentmindedly strumming a soft melody while deep in thought. Each chord seemed to echo an idea he was working through, his gaze shifting between the strings and a notepad resting on the table. Whatever he was planning, it was clear his mind was miles ahead of the rest of us.
Lunch With a Twist
The office buzzed with the usual morning energy—keyboards clicking, phones ringing, and the faint sound of coffee brewing in the corner. In the middle of it all, Filbert stood up, he announced with a grin, “who’s up for lunch? Just one catch—it’s vegan.”
The room fell silent for a second as everyone exchanged glances. Then, one by one, the nods came. Food was food, and they trusted Filbert’s knack for picking good spots.
The team arrived at the Chinese vegetarian restaurant, greeted by the warm aroma of spices and sizzling dishes. Plates of crispy spring rolls, tofu stir-fry, and the highly anticipated sweet and sour “pork” started arriving at the table. Everyone dug in with enthusiasm, their earlier hesitation melting away.
Halfway through the meal, Anjo walked in, fashionably late as always. He had gone to the office first, completely missing the change in plans.
Without missing a beat, Drei asked, “What’s your favorite on the menu?”
“Sweet and sour pork—but, you know, not pork,” Anjo quipped, causing the table to erupt in laughter.
As the meal wrapped up and everyone reached for their wallets, Filbert raised a hand to stop them.
“Relax, everyone. Lunch is on me,” he said with a satisfied smile.
The groans of mock protest quickly turned into cheers of appreciation, and the team’s spirits were higher than ever as they headed back to the office. Little did they know, Filbert had one more surprise up his sleeve.
The Big Reveal
Back at the office, with everyone settled after lunch, Filbert called us together. He stood at the center of the room, a subtle yet excited energy about him.
“I’ve been thinking,” he began, pacing slightly, “about how we connect with our audience. We do amazing work, but there’s one thing we’re missing—vlogging.”
The room fell silent as we absorbed his words.
“Vlogging?” Anne asked, her tone more curious than skeptical. “That’s mostly brainstorming and writing for me—doesn’t sound too exciting.”
Cherie, more accustomed to the polished world of news production, crossed her arms. “I’ve never done anything like this before,” she said, frowning slightly. “It’s… not really about me, though, right?”
From the corner, Anjo raised an eyebrow. “Wait, are we talking personal stuff, like showing what’s happening at home? Because I’m not sure anyone needs to see my messy laundry pile.”
Jeff, who thrived behind the camera, scratched his head. “So… this means I’d have to be in front of the camera? That’s a bit of a challenge.”
Handrea, always practical, chimed in. “We’re already juggling a lot as it is. Where are we supposed to squeeze this into the schedule?”
The doubts hung in the air for a moment, but Filbert wasn’t fazed. He laid out his vision, painting a vivid picture of how vlogging could show the heart of FTV—the real, raw, unfiltered process behind the scenes.
“It’s not about perfection,” he explained. “It’s about showing the world who we are, how we work, and why we love what we do. The chaos, the laughter, the messy magic—that’s what connects with people.”
By the time Filbert wrapped up, the room was buzzing with excitement. What started as a hesitant idea had transformed into a new adventure, one that promised to show not just what we create, but who we are.
