Toronto enters Stage 3 of reopening on Friday

The Ontario government has announced that the City of Toronto, together with Peel region is set to enter Stage 3 of the province’s reopening plan on Friday at 12:01 a.m.

The daily case count in Canada’s largest city continues to drop with only one reported case yesterday. Monday was a great start with only six new cases reported. According to Toronto Public Health, the city’s overall recovery rate is now at 90 percent.

The government’s decision on permitting both regions to enter Stage 3 is based on the consultation with the province’s public health officials and the positive local trends of key public health indicators.

Limit to gatherings will be increased to 50 people indoors and 100 outdoors but maintaining physical distance is still required if people are not from the same social circle or household which remains a maximum of 10 persons.

The only region left at Stage 2 is Windsor-Essex which reported 22 new infections today.
