Toronto COVID-19 infections in younger age groups increase significantly

Toronto Mayor John Tory expresses concern about the significant increase of COVID-19 infections in younger age groups.

In recent weeks, the majority of reported cases are those aged 39 and younger – a huge shift from when the city experience several outbreaks that most infected people over 52 years old. The reported trend seems to continue.

Mayor Tory again reminds everyone that young people are not invincible or immune to COVID-19. Although they may not fall severely ill unlike those aged older, the risk of bringing the virus home and transmitting it to their families is still concerning.

Residents are urged to continue following the provided public health measures when out.

Although daily cases in the city are slowly declining and most businesses have reopened, Mayor Tory says now is not the time to put our guards down.
