PH News: Earthquake hits Mindanao

Reports say a 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit Mindanao last night.

According to National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), there are 5 confirmed deaths and several injured from the earthquake. There were 314 aftershocks recorded in which only 5 were felt including a 5.5 magnitude in Sultan Kudarat.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) confirmed the epicentre of the earthquake was 22 kilometres east of Tulunan, North Cotabato. It occurred at exactly 7:37 p.m. (Philippine time)

Some of the cities that were highly affected were Kidapawan City and General Santos City. It even caused a blazing fire at a mall in Gen San.

It is said that the earthquake also affected neighbouring countries like Indonesia and Malaysia.
