Heavy rainfall to hit Toronto over the weekend might lead to flooding

Looks like Toronto would be facing its first rainstorm this weekend. Environment Canada has released a special weather statement for Toronto and parts of Southern Ontario for heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Forecast says this can possibly lead to freezing rain. The scattered showers that we’ll be experiencing today will continue all day tomorrow. It’s also expected to transition to snow on Sunday.

The City staff says Toronto Water crew, Transportation Services, and Forestry crew will be on standby monitoring the city, responding for flooding calls, patrolling the roads for debris, fallen trees and branches.

City of Toronto spokesperson, Brad Ross says that the strong winds might also take down power lines. He’s reminding residents to be patient on calling emergency lines, 311 and 911, to report issues as it is expected to have higher volumes of incoming calls.
