Five COVID-19 ‘pop-up’ assessment centres coming in Scarborough

After releasing an interactive map of COVID-19 cases in the city per neighbourhood, Scarborough Health Network is partnering with Toronto Public Health and Ontario’s Health Ministry in launching ‘pop-up’ assessment centres in different locations in Scarborough.

The first pop-up opened today at the Islamic Institute of Toronto in Malvern at 1630 Neilson Rd.

Four more locations are to open. Each on a different day. The pop-up centres are operating from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Testing is most recommended to residents living in neighbourhoods with a high number of COVID cases.

As per Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s announcement early this week, those who think they might be infected can now get tested even without showing any symptoms of the virus.

This action hopes to boost testing in the city and in the province. The next ‘pop-ups’ are opening on June 1st at Westminister Presbyterian Church, 841 Birchmount Rd, and on June 2nd at Global Kingdom Ministries, 1250 Markham Rd.

Details on two other locations are still unknown.
