Prime Minister Justin Trudeau encourages students and recent graduates to sign up for a Canada Revenue Agency account in advance to prepare as they apply for the Canada Emergency Student Benefit this Friday.
Eligible student applicants are going to receive $1,250 per month from May to August. This benefit also covers working students that are making less than $1,000 a month. Applicants who have a disability, or are taking care of someone who has, are eligible to receive $2,000.
Since landing a summer job or a permanent job for recent graduates is not guaranteed because of the pandemic, it is expected that millions of students will apply for the aid.
All applying students must confirm that they are currently looking for summer jobs. They will get connected with a job bank managed by the government to help employers who are struggling with labour.
