Galing Montreal, Diretso sa Tunay na Usapan

by Anjo Pallasigui

Frozen Flame wasn’t even supposed to be called that. They couldn’t think of a name, so Dolans pulled something from a game he was playing—Chrono Cross or Chrono Trigger, they’re not even sure anymore. It stuck.

This week sa OPM Livestream, dumayo sila mula Montreal to play originals, tell stories, and hang with the community. Hindi ito press gig. It was chill and honest. The kind where you hear real voices and the jokes fly while guitars are being tuned.

Most of their songs come from personal stories or kwento ng tropa. One name kept popping up—King. Apparently, the most dramatic life always makes the best lyrics. They start with the chorus when writing. That’s where the feeling is, then they build around it.

I still remember back in 2009 or 2010, they recorded a version of one of my personal favorite songs at M Studio. We still have the recording. Hearing them again brought me back to that session. Simple lang, pero buo yung emotion. Parang time capsule ng isang panahon na puno ng ensayo, ensayo, at kwentong totoo.

They played UmagaStella, and other songs that clearly hit home for a lot of people. May mga nagtanong, nag-shoutout, nagtawanan sa chat. It felt like a gig in a small bar where you actually get to talk to the band after.

The Frozen Flame guys also shared something simple but solid. Keep going. Make music because you love it. Don’t wait for validation. And when you get your break, pull others up with you.

That’s what we try to do with OPM Livestream. It’s not about big numbers or hype. It’s about connection. Music that travels from Montreal basements to Toronto backyards, and maybe to someone watching quietly from the other side of the world.

Salamat, Frozen Flame. Balik kayo ulit.
